Ordinance 1973-04 ORDINANCE NO. _ /(3 - i AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS, PROHIBITING THE DRILLING OF OIL AND GAS WELLS WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00); AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS: SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful and an offense for any person, firm or corporation to conduct drilling operations for the discovery of oil or gas within the City limits of the City of Wylie, Texas. SECTION 2. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction in Municipal Court shall be subject to fine not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) for each offense and each and every day any such violation shall continue shall be deemed to constitute a separate offense. SECTION 3. The fact that the City of Wylie has no regulations prohibiting the drilling of oil and gas wells within the City creates an urgency and an emergency and in the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare requires that this ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage and the publication of the caption as the law in such cases provide.
