Resolution 94-23 RESOLUTION NO. tlt/- J-3> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS, DECLARING THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 2,1994 AS 4-H WEEK IN WYLIE AND EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE GOALS OF THE WYLIE 4-H CLUB WHEREAS, the President of the United States has proclaimed October 2 through October 8 as National 4-H Week, a salute to the more than 5/12 million young people currently enrolled in this, the Nation's largest youth saving organization, and WHEREAS, National 4-H Week recognizes the contributions 4-H has made in youth leadership development and in improving the quality of life for millions of Americans in its more than 80 years of existence, and WHEREAS, the 4-H program is entering its 86th year of operations, a program which began in 1908 near Jacksboro, with the first Boy's Com Club, and which has brown to reach some 446,000 boys and girls i virtually every community in this state, and WHEREAS, the Collin County 4-H program is an unique partnership between the federal government through the United States Department of Agriculture, state government through Texas A&M University and the Collin County Commissioner's Court. This partnership allows 4-H to be locally responsive to the needs of young people and to address those needs in ways suitable for the City of Wylie and Collin County, and WHEREAS, the Collin County 4-H program reaches more than two thousand boys and girls through thirteen county based clubs and school enrichment programs which teach more than twenty different subjects through 4-H projects. Boys and girls in Collin County form 9 to 19 years of age learn new skills and practice what they have learned through a learn by doing approach led by more than one hundred adult volunteers, and WHEREAS, the Collin County and Wylie 4-H programs serve boys and girls with educational programs and activities which foster pride in accomplishments and a family togetherness which is the strength of our entire society. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Wylie, Texas, that the week of October 2nd is hereby declared as: Wylie 4-H Week.
