ORDINANCE NO: 70-10, AMENDING SECTION 3-A OF ORDINANCE NO. 62-9
OF THE CITY SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR WATER AND SEWER SERVICE CONNECTION
CHARGES AND WATER METER INSTALLATION COSTS~ BY AMENDING SECTION 4
OF ORDINANCE NO. 62-9 SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR THE PAYMENT FOR WATER
AND SEWER EXTENSIONS~ PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED TWO
HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00) FOR EACH OFFENSE~ AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WYLIE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance 70-10 is hereby repealed and
that Section 3-A of Ordinance No. 62-9 be, and the same is hereby,
amended so as to hereinafter read as follows, to-wit:
~l. Sewer Lateral Connection Charqe
For sewer laterals six inches (6") and smaller $75.00
plus any street or alley cut charges.
For sewer laterals above six inches, - Total cost of
labor and material plus any street or alley cut charges.
(Provided that the City may at its discretion permit such
connections to be made by a private plumber, in which case
the owner will pay such plumber for all such work done
and will pay to the City in lieu of the above charges a
$5.00 inspection fee plus any street or alley cut charges.)

Meter with Bypass cost is to be used in case developer
installs water line, outlet and gate valve.
Cost for tapping valve and sleeve is to be applied only
where it is necessary to make the tap.
Section 3. That Section 4 of Ordinance No. 62-9 be, and
the same is hereby amended so as to hereinafter read as follows, to-wit:
II 4. AI ternate Method.
At the option of the City, the following method for
extending water and sewer mains may be used where the applicant's
property is more than 100 feet from an existing water or sewer
main. This method shall be available for use by any applicant
to secure water and sewer service for the individual's
residence or place of business.
Where eligible for this option, the owner may advance and pay
into the City the entire pro rata cost as set forth in this
Ordinance, as follows:
For water and sewer extensions actual cost plus 15% on
all property served by the desired main extension, and
the City, when said money has been actually deposited
with the City, will construct the said desired water
or sewer main along the street, alley or easement. When
any property for which such person has advanced the pro
rata cost is connected to the said main extension, then,
in that event, the pro rata cost so advanced on that
particular property shall be refunded by the City to the
person making the original deposit. Where an extension
is requested by an industry or commercial concern using
large quantities of water and cannot meet the requirements
of one customer per 100 feet of extension, such extension
may be made at the discretion of the Governing Body of the
City provided 40% of the estimated annual revenue from
such customer will support interest and principal payments
on a ten year loan covering the cost of such extension,
said loan bearing interest at the rate of 6% per annum. II
SECTION 4. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of
the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor
and upon conviction in the corporation court shall be subject to a fine
not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) for each offense, and each
and every day any such violation shall continue shall be deemed to
constitute a separate offense.
SECTION 5. The fact that Ordinance No. 62-9 of the City
needs amending so as to provide for different costs for water and
sewer connections and costs for extensions of lines creates an urgency
and an emergency, and in the preservation of public health, safety and
welfare requires that this ordinance shall take effect immediately from
and after its passage and the publication of the caption as the law in
such cases provides
on the
