The minutes of the May meeting were read and approved.
All bills were ordered paid.
A group of_men Watt representing Texas. Poeer._ & light Co. and headed by Mr.
Ireland Smith. of_l€.McKinney met.. with the .counniI. .and. ask that. the City grant
them a thirty+-seven (37) year extension on,their present- franchise. This would
make their franchise run tor. A.period of fifty (50) years.. The.council .took the
following action. A motion..was made. by. A..D. .Boyd. and. Second by C.W. Taylor
that the City grant the extention.. The .motion carried. _A copy. .of whia is
attached. hereto.
With no further business the cornei7 adjourned to meat, again..at_the next_ regular
or call meeting.

MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS
The City Council of the City of Wylie, Texas, met in regular
session on Monday, June 15, 1953, at 8 p.m., at their regular meeting
place.
Those present were: Mayor J.A. Benton
Aldermen: Raymond Posey
A. D. Boyd
R. V. Groves
Walter Poor
Chas. Taylor, being all members of the
City Council.
W. W. Housewright, Secretary, acted as secretary of the meeting.
Among other business transacted was the passage of an ordinance
to extend Texas Power & Light Company's franchise for a period of thin y-seven
(37) years, making the expiration date thereof May 26, 2003.
Alderman A.D.Boyd introduced an ordinance entitled, AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING AN ORDINANCE GRANTING TO TEXAS POWER & LIGHT COMPANY, ITS SUCCESSORS
AND ASSIGNS, AN ELECTRIC LIGHT, HEAT AND POWER FRANCHISE ADOPTED Br THE CITY
COUNCIL OF WYLIE, TEXAS, ON THE 26th DAY OF MAY, 1916, SO AS TO EXTEND THE
TERM OF SAID FRANCHISE 37 YEARS FROM ITS PRESENT EXPIRATION DATE*, and made
the motion that the ordinance be passed, which motion was seconded by Chas.
Taylor. Said ordinance was read and, on motion, finally passed and adopted,
the vote thereupon being unanimous in favor of said ordinance.
Mayor Benton thereupon, in open meeting, signed and approved
said ordinance, and it was ordered that the same be recorded and the same is
recorded in words and figures as follows:
*AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AN ORDINANCE GRANTING TO TEXAS POWER
& LIGHT COMPANY, ITS SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS, AN ELECTRIC
LIGHT, HEAT AND POWER FRANCHISE ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF WYLIE, TEXAS, ON THE 26th DAY OF MAY, 1916, SO AS TO
EXTEND THE TERM OF SAID FRANCHISE 37 YEARS FROM ITS PRESENT
EXPIRATION DATE.
BE IT OBTATNED Eft THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the electric light, heat and power
franchise heretofore granted to the Texas Power & Light Company
by ordinance adopted by the City Council of the City of Wylie,
Texas, on May 26, 1916, be extended for a period of thirty-seven
(37) years from and after the expiration date named therein, so
that the term of such franchise will extend to May 26, 2003.
Section 2: The grantee in such franchise, to wit,
Texas Power& Light Company, shall file its written acceptance
of this extension of said franchise within sixty (60) days
after the passage and approval of this ordinance.
PASSED AND APPROVED this the 15th day of Jane, 1953.
