Feb. 15, 1954
,The City council of this City met in regular session on the above date with
the following members being present. Mayor; J.A. Bentmn Aldermen: R.U. Groves,
A.D. Boyd, W.P. Poor., R.S. Posey, C. 1WI W. Taylor., and sect L.W. Housewright.
The minutes of the January meeting were read and approved.
All bills were ordered paid.
An election was ordered for the purpose of electing the following:
1---Payor I -City Marshall
2---Aldermen 1--.City Secretary
N.^. Houston was appointed to hold the election, and he is to secure what help
that he deems necessary.
A motion was made by A.D. Boyd and seconed by C.V. Taylor that the City retire
as many bonds as they are financially able to do. Motion carried.
A motion was made byR,V. len Groves and seconed by C.W. Taylor that
NORTH & South College street in this city be changed to Birmingham Avenue
and that Cotton Belt avenue be changed or renamed Keefer street. Motion Carried.
There was a lengthy discussion in regard to a place to dump trash with the following
action being taken. The council was to check into the place on the R.V% Groves
farm and see if it would be advisable to go to the necessary expense to make this
place all-right for dumping,
No further business the council adjourned to meet again at the n-xt regular ,
meeting.
