ORDINANCE 69-11
SECTION 1. There is hereby created an Auxiliary Police Unit
consisting of duly qualified and appointed volunteers, which
shall augment the Regular Wylie Police Department as
hereinafter provided.
SECTION 2. The City Council shall appoint such number of
Auxiliary Police Officers as it shall from time to time deem
expedient; appointments to be based upon recommendations by
the Chief of Police after competent investigation and
training of volunteer applicants. Appointments shall run
for a term concurrent with regular police officers.
SECTION 3. The Auxiliary Police Officer (hereinafter called
Auxiliary) shall, before entering upon the duties of his
office, take the oath of office prescribed by the State
Constitution, and execute and deliver to the City of Wylie a
good and sufficient bond in the sum of one thousand dollars
($1000.00), payable to the City of Wylie, Collin County,
Texas, conditioned that he will faithfully perform all the
duties required of him by the Constitution and Laws of
Texas, the Ordinances of the City of wylie, and such further
duties as may be prescribed by the Council.
SECTION 4. Upon the appointment of any

SECTION 7. Auxiliary Police Officers shall be directly
responsible to the Chief of police, and to such regular and
reserve officers as the Chief of Police may designate.
SECTION 8. When duly committed to active duty upon order of
the Chief of Police, Auxiliary shall exercise like powers,
duties, and responsibilities as regular police officers, so
far as same are consistent with their orders from the Chief
of POlice, and in obedience with the laws of the State of
Texas, and ordinances of the City of Wylie. The City
Council shall by resolution designate when the Auxiliary
Police Unit is to be activated; the Mayor shall act upon the
resolution and issue the necessary orders to the Chief of
Police; the Chief will commit the Auxiliary Unit into active

SECTION 9. The Chief of Auxiliary Police shall be elected
by the Auxiliary. His duties, in addition to those set
forth in the By-Laws of the Auxiliary, shall be determined
by the Chief of Police and he shall be directly responsible
to the Chief of Police. Among other duties, the Auxiliary
Chief will submit a monthly activity report which includes
the number of hours worked by the Auxiliary and such other
items as prescribed by the Chief of Police.
SECTION 10. It shall be unlawful for any person to falsely
represent himself to be a police officer, regular or
reserve. Any member of the Auxiliary police Unit shall be
subject to dismissal for neglect of duty or misconduct in
office, or for the violation of the lawful orders of the
City Council, Mayor, Chief of police, or Chief of Auxiliary
Police. Any person violating any of the provisions of this
ordinance shall be guilty of misdemeanor, and, upon
conviction, shall be fined not more than one hundred dollars
($100.00) .
Section 11. If any article, paragraph, subdivision, clause,
phrase, or provision of this ordinance shall be adjudged invalid
or held unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity
of this ordinance as a whole or any part or provision thereof
other than the part so decided to be invalid or unconstitutional.
