08-07-1907 (City Council) Minutes Wylie Texas, Aug 7th, 1907. The town council of the town of Wylie Tex. met in regular session in city hall on Aug. 7th 1907 with Mayor protem R Jackson presiding. The minutes of previous meeting read and approved, All officers being present. The mayor and alderman proceeded to count the ballots of election and found 208 for J W Russell 1 for W. A. Rippy and 1 for J B Baskette. J W Russell was declared elected mayor of the town of Wylie. There being no secretary after the resignation of J W Russell Sec. C J Gallagher was appointed. The application of Leslie A. Powell was read for city clerk. There being no other application Mr. Powell was elected by acclamation. The resignation of L. F. Brooks as town marshal was read and an motion and second same was accepted. The name of Mr Albert Brown was submitted to the council for town marshal to fill the unexpired term of L. F. Brooks resigned. A vote was taken on the above matter and Mr Brown declared elected. Report of finance committee on J. W. Amis and Report of Marshal I. F. Brooks resigned was made and accepted. Matters of unfinished business were then taken up relating to the sidewalk proposition and after a lengthy discussion it was decided for the new officials to take the matter up and finish it. The matter of an equalization board was then taken up and after a little discussion it was decided not to appoint any. Albert Brown was then sworn in as marshal and was presented with"Star"by x marshal L. F. Brooks. Moved by R. Jackson second by J. W. Amis that parties be notified to appear before next meeting of council and show reasons why side walks were not built or repaired. List of 77999 to be sent; Sidewalk south of Housewright & Haworth & Co warehouse. Walk in front of Housewright Co & ????house on Ballard Ave. Street crossing between ??? & ??? and C. W. Gallagher. Walk in front of property owned by U T. Brown Mrs ???? ??? and W H ???? on east side of Jackson St. Walk in front of W. J. Brown and Mrs S. L. Bowman. Crossing between C. D ??? and Geo Housewright. Monthly report of the Marshall ???? ???? is submitted and accepted On motion and second the following accounts were allowed; J. B. Baskette Holding Election 10.00 ??? ??? Labor 25 L. A.
