A. Overview of the 2024 Wylie Arts Festival
Board Discussion
PAC Ehrlich presented the 2024 Wylie Arts Festival total funds raised, at $33,795. Ehrlich noted positive
comments from the vendor survey and vendor requests for more food vendor options next year.
B. Discussion regarding the 2025 PAAB meeting dates
Board Discussion
Parks and Recreation Supervisor Pannell presented the 2025 PAAB meeting dates to the board. Due to a
city holiday falling on the June regular meeting date, Pannell proposed an alternate date to the board. The
board agreed to change the date and Pannell will present alternate dates at the next meeting.
C. Discussion regarding Phase 2, Walking Trails (Yoshi Write) update
Board Discussion
PAC Ehrlich updated the board that Yoshi's studio located in Altadena, California was lost in the wildfires
and he has been unable to get in and access damages. Ehrlich noted Yoshi will provide an update on the
state of the sculptures once he can access the property.
D. Discussion regarding Phase 3, Walking Trails Art (Sonny Behan) update
Board Discussion
PAC Ehrlich discussed a conversation had with artist Vandable regarding the four arrows in Behan's deer
sculpture. After researching the philosophy of Native American tribes Ehrlich found it was inhumane to
take a shot unless it was a clean shot to a vital organ so the animal would not suffer. Tribes would pray or
sing songs after the kill, to thank the animal for giving its life. The board agreed we must honor that
philosophy and remove the arrows from the maquette. They suggest adding moving grasses or some other
items to show movement, which is important to the design.
E. Discussion regarding Phase 3 (2), Walking Trails (Seth Vandable)
Board Discussion
PAC Ehrlich reminded the board artist Seth Vandable would be presenting his maquette at the January
28th council meeting along with a PowerPoint presentation from artist Behan and asked board members
to be in attendance.
