Special Called Meeting
April 16,1996
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Jim Swartz called the Special Called City Council Meeting to order, April 16,
1996 at 7:00 p.m. with the following Councilmembers present: Reta Allen, Joel Scott, J.
C. Worley and Cleo Adams. Steve Wright was absent. John Mondy was absent during
the first action item and the executive session.
ACTION ITEMS
APPROVAL OF THE LAW FIRM OF ABERNATHY, ROEDER, ROBERTSON & JOPLIN
TO REPRESENT THE CITY OF WYLIE IN THE LAWSUIT, CITY OF PARKER V. CITY
OF WYLIE
Mike Collins, City Manager, stated that to have legal representation on the lawsuit
from the City of Parker, Council would need to designate a law firm to represent the city.
Scott made the motion to appoint the law firm of Abernathy, Roeder, Robertson & Joplin
to represent Wylie. Adams seconded the motion. The motion was voted on and passed
unanimously.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Executive Session was held under Section 551.071 Government Code -
Consultation with Attorney regarding the pending litigation, City of Parker v. City of Wylie.
Executive Session ended at 8:05 p.m.
WORKSESSION
MUNICIPAL COURT OPERATIONS AND COURT DOCKET UPDATE
Judge Suzanne Marsh, Municipal Court Judge, gave an overview and update on the
Judicial Court System. She also discussed the reason for the back log. Don High,
Prosecutor for the city, stated his observation of how the court is being run. Plans to add
more court dates are being considered. Collins suggested coming back to Council in July
or August to give an update on how the court is running on the new system.

SERVICE CENTER, PROJECT UPDATE AND BUDGET STATUS
Collins stated that there were items identified on the project that could be deferred
to 1998. Three different alternatives for building the service center were identified. Other
options were still being considered and will be brought back to Council.
GOALS AND PLANS FOR THE FUTURE OF WYLIE
Due to the length of the meeting, this item was postponed to another date.
ADJOURNMENT
As there was no further business to come before Council for consideration, the
meeting was adjourned.
