Resolution 81-82-02-03 RESOLUTION 81-82-2-3 WHEREAS, the three-year search by the Airport Study Committee eliminated all area proposed airport sites except the Wylie site, located north of West F.M. 544 and East of F.M. 1378, and WHEREAS, the Wylie City Council, in cooperation with two nearby cities, voted unanimously to apply for federal aid to prepare an Environmental Impact Assessment Report and an Airport Master Plan, and WHEREAS, a federal grant was approved and accepted and two independent consulting firms were selected to prepare the Reports, thus providing sufficient information with which the voters of the City of Wylie could make a providential decision for or against further action toward the development of an airport, and WHEREAS, in keeping with the long standing policy of the City Council to be guided by the vote of the citizens of Wylie before taking further action on the airport issue, and WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the vital importance of the airport issue to the future development of Wylie and the surrounding area, and is determined to provide as much information as possible to the voters prior to the referendum, and WHEREAS, by and through the adoption of this resolution, the City Council pledges and covenants with the voters of Wylie to carry out their decision as to the airport issue; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS: Section 1. That a referendum of the voters at the regular city election be conducted to determine if the voters desire to continue the step by step plan for airport development, or if they wish to stop the airport development process upon completion of the Environmental Impact Assessment Report and the Airport Master Plan. Section 2. That every effort be made to distribute available airport data to all Wylie voters prior to the regular city election. Section 3. That certified copies of this resolution be forwarded to appropriate authorities upon its adoption. Section 4. That this resolution shall be in effect immediately upon its adoption.
