Resolution 2003-10 RESOLUTION NO 2003-10 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE CANVASS FOR THE ELECTION RETURNS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON MAY 3, 2003; SPECIAL ELECTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A COUNCIL MEMBER TO FILL THE VACANCY OF THE UNEXPIRED TERM OF PLACE 1, EXPIRING IN MAY OF 2004. WHEREAS, The Wylie City Council of the City of Wylie, Texas (City) held a Special Election on May 3, 2003 for the purpose of electing a council member to fill the vacancy of the unexpired term of Place 1, expiring in May of2004. WHEREAS, A Canvass of the Special Election returns was conducted on May 6, 2003 in accordance with the Election Code, and WHEREAS, It was found that the persons herein named received the following votes for said unexpired term of office on the Wylie City Council of the City of Wylie, Texas: COUNCIL PLACE 1 Randal Shinn 311 David Hinton 82 Jim Swartz 152 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS: SECTION 1. Randal Shinn is hereby declared to be elected Council Member Place 1. SECTION 2. The Wylie City Council hereby finds and determines, as a result of the Canvass, held on May 6, 2003, that a combined Election Day and Early Vote total of 553 votes were cast in the General and Special Election, with 218 early voters, as indicated by the poll list for the General and Special Election held on May 3, 2003. SECTION 7. It is hereby declared that the City of Wylie approves and accepts the results of the Special Election for Council Place 1 as set forth in the Order attached hereto as Exhibit A, as determined by the majority vote of the qualified voters of the City of Wylie. Resolution No. Page 2 SECTION 8. This Resolution will become effective after its passage by the Wylie City Council.
