Staff Comments: Deputy City Manager Renae' 011ie provided the Board with an update on the acquisition efforts related to the Wylie and Hughes Cemeteries from the Wylie Cemetery Association. It was determined that ownership of a portion of the properties could not be verified. As a result, the title company was unable to issue an Owner's Title Policy to protect the City's interests. In addition to this issue, staff concluded that assuming responsibility for the cemeteries would present significant operational challenges, particularly related to grounds maintenance, historical document research, digitization of records, and plot sales. Staff presented these findings —along with the inability to secure title insurance —to the City Council. Based on this information, the City Council directed staff to cease further efforts to acquire the Wylie and Hughes Cemeteries. With consideration of the City Council's direction to staff, Ms. 011ie sought input from the Board regarding the potential disbandment of the Cemetery Advisory Board. All members present agreed that it would be appropriate to formally dissolve the Board. 1 1 P a g e April 6, 2023 Cemetery Advisory Board Regular Meeting Minutes RECONVENE INTO REGULAR SESSION AT 6:17 ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Board Member Trent, seconded by Board Member Suarez, to adjourn the meeting at 6:17 PM.
