RESOLUTION NO. 94-27
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE,
TEXAS, DESIGNATING THE FIRST WEEK OF NOVEMBER, 1994 AS
NATIONAL CHILDREN'S BOOK WEEK IN WYLIE
WHEREAS, the Wylie City Council recognizes that reading is an integral part of
the learning process in children and adults of all ages, and
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that an active reader makes available
to him or herself more opportunities for personal growth and understanding of our
changing world, and
WHEREAS, reading is a fundamental part of a child's education that should be
encouraged both at school and at home
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Wylie, Texas, that:
SECTION 1. That the first week of November, 1994, is hereby declared in the
City of Wylie, Texas, to be:
National Children's Book Week.
SECTION 2. Parents and teachers are hereby encouraged to stress reading at
all age levels in the home and in the school.
SECTION 3. Parents and teachers are hereby encouraged to take advantage
of their local library, book stores, and local reading programs.
SECTION 4. Parents are encouraged to obtain public library cards as well as
school library cards for their children and themselves.
DULY PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Wylie on this the
25th day of October, 1994.
