Resolution 98-11 RESOLUTION NO.i&J' (R.) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE CANVASS FOR THE ELECTION RETURNS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON MAY 2, 1998; SPECIAL ELECTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMIITING TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS, CERTAIN PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE EXISTING CITY CHARTER. WHEREAS, The Wylie City Council of the City of Wylie, Texas (City) held a Special Election on May 2, 1998 for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of the city of Wylie, Texas, certain proposed amendments to the existing city charter. WHEREAS, A Canvass of the Special Election returns was conducted on May 5, 1998 in accordance with the Election Code, and WHEREAS, It was found that the propositions herein numbered 1 through 18, received the following 'yes' and 'no' votes, to the existing Wylie City Charter: Proposition 1. Yes 866 No 66 Resolution No. fu I {f!.. \ Page 3 --;; Proposition 18. Yes No 880 66 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS: SECTION 5. Propositions 1-18 were all approved with a majority vote of the qualified voters of the City of Wylie. SECTION 6. The Wylie City Council hereby finds and determines, as a result of the Canvass, held on May 5, 1998, that a combined Election Day and Early Vote total of 1,042 votes were cast in the General Election, with 275 early voters, as indicated by the poll list for the General Election held on May 2, 1998. SECTION 7. It is hereby declared that the City of Wylie approves and accepts the amendments to the Wylie City Charter as set forth in the Order attached hereto, as determined by the majority vote of the qualified voters of the City of Wylie. SECTION 8. This Resolution will become effective after its passage by the Wylie City Council. PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE WYLIE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, TEXAS, on this 12th day of May, 1998. A Canvass of the Special Election returns was conducted on May 5, 1998 in accordance with Section 67.002 of the Election Code, with proper notice posted as required by Section 551.042 of the Texas Government Code. It was found that the propositions herein numbered 1 through 18, received the following 'yes' and 'no' votes, to the existing Wylie City Charter: Proposition 1. Proposition 11. The Wylie City Council hereby finds and determines, as a result of the Canvass, held on May 5, 1998, that a combined Election Day and Early Vote total of 1,042 City votes were cast in the General Election, with 275 early voters, as indicated by the poll list for the Special Election held on May 2, 1998.
