A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WYLIE,
TEXAS, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE CANVASS FOR THE
ELECTION RETURNS OF THE RUNOFF ELECTION OF JUNE 3, 2000, AS
A RESULT OF THE GENERAL ELECTION CONDUCTED MAY 6, 2000;
RUNOFF ELECTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING THE MAYOR
FOR A TERM OF TWO YEARS.
WHEREAS, The Wylie City Council of the City of Wylie, Texas (City) held a General and
Special Election on May 6, 2000 for the purpose of electing members to the Wylie City Council and
Mayor and filing the vacancy of one unexpired term; and
WHEREAS, as a result of the May 6 General and Special Election, four candidates were
elected to Places 2,3,4, and 6, however, none of the three candidates for Mayor received a majority
of the vote and in accordance with the Wylie Homerule Charter, Article V, Section 5 and Section 6,
and in compliance with the Texas Election Code it was thereby necessary to conduct a runoff election
for the position of Mayor, as no candidate received more than 50% of the total number of votes cast
for Mayor.
WHEREAS, A Canvass of the General Election returns was conducted on June 6,2000.
WHEREAS, It was found that the persons herein named received the following votes for said
term of office on the Wylie City Council of the City of Wylie, Texas:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WYLIE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. John Mondy is hereby declared to be elected Mayor.
SECTION 2. The Wylie City Council hereby finds and determines, as a result of the Canvass,
held on June 6, 2000, that a combined Election Day and Early Vote total of 973 votes were cast in
the Runoff Election, with 403 early voters, as indicated by the poll list for the Runoff Election on
held on June 3,2000.
SECTION 3. It is hereby declared that the City of Wylie approves and accepts the results
of the Runoff Election for Mayor as set forth in the Order attached hereto as Exhibit A, as
determined by the majority vote of the qualified voters of the City of Wylie.
SECTION 4. This Resolution will become effective after its passage by the Wylie City
Council.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE WYLIE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WYLIE, TEXAS, on this 13th day of June, 2000.
