January 28 , 1991
The Library Board of the City of Wylie met in regular session
on January 28 , 1991 , in the workroom of the Rita & Truett
Smith Public Library, at 7 : 00 P .M. A quorum was present and
notice of the meeting was posted in the time and manner required
by law. Those present were: Barbara Jennings , Mary Jo Smith,
Jan Morgan, Retha Tibbals , Shirley Burnett , and Rosanne Burgess ,
Library director .
APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR NOVEMBER 26 , 1990: Minutes were approved
as submitted.
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY: The Friends group has seven new members .
SEASONS GREETING PAGE: At the present time the Seasons
Greetings page has netted $1 , 400 . 00 .
GOAL SETTING_ A discussion of short term/long term goals for
the library was held . The board would continue to discuss
various goals for the library.
GENERAL DISCUSSION: A phone call to board member Mary Jo Smith
from Bill Dashner, City Manager , about complaints concerning the
library director was discussed. The board recommended that
a memo supporting the director be sent to the City Manager
citing increased circulation of 122 %, 64 average of Inter-
library loans per month, and no complaints to board members
concerning the library. Also during the general discussion,
it was noted that Karen Williams has been employed as a general
studies intern from U.T.D on a part-time basis for 14 weeks .

bookmarks, reading logs, certificates) in February/March 1991. School Libraries will receive all
manuals in August 1991 unless prior arrangement is made with Vicky Crosson, Reading Club
Manager.
