PRESENTATION
ACTION ITEMS
1. The Library Board Minutes of Monday, March 8, 2010 were approved with corrections.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
Patron Behavior Policy
The library staff preferred the first introduction to the Patron Behavior Policy because it creates
ownership of the library for everybody. The library staff wrote a new introduction combining
the two. The staff language is friendlier than the library board's introduction. A library board
wanted to know why we separated birds from animals. The unsupervised section still had nine
rather than twelve as the age threshold for unattended child. A question was asked between the
difference in voyeurism and staring. A section was added to make it clear that "Adults without
children". The Teen Center is for ages 12 to 17 so that the teens may have their own space.
After much discussion, it was decided to have an adult responsible for children twelve and under.
The Library Board suggested that the library staff not wait thirty minutes before calling the
police. They suggested that the library staff call the police at closing time rather than wait thirty

minutes. The Library Board made changes to the disruptive children paragraph to make it more
clear and concise. It was decided to write "depending on the severity of the situation, staff may

The Library Board was handed out the procedures for unattended children.
