Dear Mayor & Council Members :
I was shocked when I received your letter and annexation forms . We
all met with you and sent letters back in the winter expressing our
views on annexation . At that time the council agreed that it was to
the best interest of everyone NOT to annex us on Hooper Road .
I don ' t know what made you change your minds , but , I certainly have
not changed my mind . I am not surrounded by the city on three sides
and the services are not out here , even if they were I am not interested
in them. Like I have said over and over , when I moved here in 1971 , I
knew what services came with my property . I am pleased with those and
I do not want to change . I want to be out of the city limits .
A few weeks ago I received one of the most ridiculous letters that I
have ever received and I answered it . That letter was asking me to
donate a part of my land for the city to run sewer lines across my
property and then wanted me to pay $12 , 490 to tie onto the sewer . Now
that really is offering me something , isn ' t it .
Gentlemen , I paid for my land and I 'm paying a dear price in taxes and
I am certainly not going to give any of it to anybody and I 'm not going
to pay some outrageous price for city services that I don ' t want or
need . We were told in the winter at the meeting that the price was to
expensive to be feasible to even try to bring lines out here , and you
said that it would be several years before that could even be considered
so there was no reason to annex us on Hooper Road .
My answer is , always has been and always will be No to all the harrass-
ment that I am receiving . Yes , harrassment is what it is to me. I am
satisfied being out of the city limits like I moved to and I am satisfied
with the services that I have always received .
No , I will not donate any of my land for any kind of lines or anything
else . I paid for it and if anyone else gets any of it , they will have
to pay just like I did . No one gives me anything .
No , I do not want to tie on to any city services and pay ridiculous
amounts to do so .
No , I will not voluntarily sign any annexation form and I would hope
that you can understand my feelings regarding these matters and agree
now as you did in the winter that it is not a feasible action . It
certainly is not to my benefit in any way , but , as I said then , it
would be a terrible unnessary burden put upon me .
Sincerely ,
Janelle Rothenberger
