BOARD MEETING
March 9, 1998
The Library Board of the city of Wylie met in regular session on March 9 at the
Library 7:00 p.m. The attendees were:

Call to Order
1. Approval of the Minutes.
Minutes were approved as read from the February Meeting.
2. Discuss Library Automation Progress and Installation.

The new automation program is almost ready to go online for public use. There
were some minor problems, but they have been resolved. Paul has been
working on the new configuration. Publicity will be released once the Library
goes live on the system. Training is scheduled for March 19 and 20.
3. Discuss Public Internet Access.
The computers that will be used for Internet access and the privacy screens
have been received. The Internet connectivity hardware will be installed on April
7. Promotions for the Internet will begin on May 7 at the Friends' Open House.
A volunteer has contacted Mignon about doing training classes for the public.
Mignon will meet with the volunteer in late March to discuss training
opportunities.
Cathy asked about pass wording the Internet access. Mignon replied there
would be one password for all staff that would be changed every 30 days for
security. purposes. There is a software program on order that will provide
security for Internet access.
4. Discuss Library's Open House for Automation System and Internet Access.
Entertainment will be provided by the Birmingham Choir, the Wylie Jazz Band,
and a dulcimer player. The Friends are paying to publish a flyer from ALA and
bookmarks to promote Internet usage. Magnets have been purchased that
include the web site and library hours. Kathy Spillyards will set up the sound
system that we are using from Wylie United Methodist Church.
