Call to Order
Mignon introduced the new youth advisor to the Library Advisory Board and
explained the new position.
1. Approval of Minutes
Minutes from the February 9, 1997, Library Advisory Board meeting were
approved with one spelling correction. Shirley Burnett's name was spelled
incorrectly.
2. Library Renovation and 4B Budget
Mignon announced that the construction company was ahead of the contracted
schedule. The Library will be moving on March 5, 6, and 7. Furniture will be
installed on March 10. Pat Guess asked a question about the signage budgets
that were part of the 4b expenditures. Mignon explained that there are three
types of signage. There is lettering for the building, a sign for Stone and
Thomas, and a changeable sign that will be located at the edge of the parking
area.
3. Library Grand Opening on April 21, 1997
Mignon asked for the Boards approval on the invitations and the program. Laura
Bush's office called and approved the program. Invitations were approved with
one addition and one deletion. The date needs to be added and the Board
decided it would be best to do all tours after the program. The Board approved
the Grand Opening budget and agreed to go with Horizon Marketing on items
outlined in the memo. They voted to have a clown at the Grand Opening. The
Board wanted Mrs. Bush to be presented with a yellow rose. The Board agreed
to have a special called meeting to stuff and place labels on envelopes. Other
details may be discussed as well.
Mignon explained the school projects to the Board and mentioned that all of the
information is detailed in the March newsletter.
The Board asked about funding, and Mignon explained that Mike Collins, City
Manager, consulted with the City Council and they voted to use general funds.
A budget is being set up in Finance.
4. Discuss TLA in Fort Worth
TLA is going to be in Fort Worth this year from April 8 to 12. The exhibits are
interesting and educational. Mignon encouraged the Board to attend the
exhibits if they have time to do so.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
