BOARD MEETING
July 14, 1997
The Library Advisory Board of the City of Wylie met in regular session on July
14, 1997, in the Library at 7:00 p.m. The attendees were:
Shirley Burnett
Liz Allen
Mary Conley
Gerry Whitt
Tom Proctor
Call to Order
1. Approval of Minutes
Minutes from the June 14, 1997, Library Advisory Board meeting were
approved.
2. Discuss and Consider Election of Officers.
Shirley Burnett was nominated as President. Mary Conely will serve as vice-
president, and Gerry Whitt will be secretary.
3. Discuss and Consider 4b funding for FY 98.
The Library Advisory Board approved the request for $52,000 for the Dynix
Express Library Automation System. The cost of the system will be $49,000 with
a contingency of$3000. Tom Proctor, new board Member and librarian, stated
that $3000 is a standard contingency fund. If the contingency funds are not used
for the automation project, materials will be purchased for the Library.
4. Discuss the Library Operating Budget.
Mignon updated the Board on the budget cuts and the proposed budget for the
Library.
5. Discuss Quarterly Report
There was a discussion of the quarterly report. Mignon pointed out the increase
in statistics the Library has experienced over the last three months.
6. Discuss Summer Reading Club and Statistical Increases.
Summer Reading Club registration increased from 85 in 1996 to 225 in 1997
with an additional 24 adults registered for the adult reading club.
NEW BUSINESS
Mignon will be doing a tour for the new teacher orientation group on August 4.
She is going to be working with the principals and inviting them to do faculty
meetings at the Library.
OLD BUSINESS
Liz asked about the Moving Solutions bill. Mignon turned in the invoice with the
corrected amount on it to be paid. The bill was paid by the City and Move
Solutions has not contacted the Library.

Mignon provided the Library Advisory Board with a Internet demonstration.
