Call to Order
1. Approval of Minutes
Minutes from the November 11, 1996 Library Advisory Board meeting
were approved.
2. Discussion of Phone Use Policy
The Library has installed a pay phone for patron use. Mignon explained
that patrons have been abusing phone use on a regular basis. The
staff phone is located at the circulation desk and was often tied up with
patron calls. The pay phone was installed outside the building so people
from the Wylie Sports Association can use it after library hours.
:3. Discussion of Renovation and Construction Process
Mignon gave a detailed report to the Board on construction progress.
The Construction company has not been at work on the renovation for
several days due to waiting on door frames and window frames. The
Library is scheduled to move on January 15, 16, and 17.
Announcements will be published in the newspaper and at City Hall.
.4. Discussion of Extending Circulation Period
Mignon talked with the Library Board about extending book circulation fe- w.taac
weeks instead of three weeks during the Library's move. There will be not
be any books due January 15-17 while the Library is closed.
5. Discuss Greeting Card Page and Matching Grant
Mignon announced that the Library has been awarded a matching grant of
$4448 for purchasing children's furniture. The Board reported that there
were many people on their calling list for the Greeting Card Page who
were not willing to give. However, the list was extended this year and
there were a large number of people who were called for the first time.
Mignon will go through the list and delete wrong phone numbers before
next year's fund raiser. Kathy suggested laminating this year's Greeting
Card Page and having it on display during the holidays next year.
6. New Business
Pat announced that Plano Market Square has discount books that are
slightly damaged on sale to the public. Mignon announced that the
Library had a 49% increase in circulation in November 1996 compared to
November 1995.
