DISCUSSION ITEMS
• Update to the Municipal Complex Art Projects for Site #1 Site #2 and Site #3;
Update Founder's Park Art Project.
Staff Comments
Public Art Board liaison Ehrlich reported there was an issue with the Voice of Wylie by Living Lenses. Ehrlich
explained the sculpture had circular lines running through the stainless steel especially when the sun was shining
on the piece. Ehrlich reported the artists were aware of the issue and were working with the fabricator to resolve
the issue. She noted the balance to pay the artists was contingent upon the costs to resolve the issue.
PAAB liaison Ehrlich reported Artist Madeline Wiener had sent the stone plaque for "CATCH" at Founder's Park
and plans have been finalized for the art dedication. She presented a draft invitation for the Grand Opening of the
park and the Public Art Dedication of"CATCH" that would be sent to sports leagues, PAAB selection panel, and
other boards and commission members. She noted the invitation would be sent to city employees and dignitaries
at the county and surrounding local levels.
• Discussion regarding the Community park CIP Art Project. (C. Ehrlich, PAAB
Liaison)
Staff Comments
Staff liaison Ehrlich reviewed the current funding of $14,950 for the Community Park CIP Art Project. Ehrlich
explained this amount was low to provide any type of substantial sculpture or mosaic and was not enough to
consider bronze.
Ehrlich suggested the board postpone beginning the commission process until next year when funds from the
December 2011 Arts Festival were collected to see if those funds could enhance what the board could
commission for the Community Park Project.
May 19,2011 Wylie Public Arts Advisory Board Meeting Minutes 2
Consensus of the board was to wait until January 2012 to begin discussions regarding the commissioning of an
