DISCUSSION ITEMS
• Update to the Municipal Complex Art Projects for Site #1 Site #2 and Site
#3; Update Founder's Park Art Project.
Staff Summary
PAAB Liaison Ehrlich reported on the progress with the Founder's Park CIP project "CATCH" noting that the
sculpture installation had been installed Monday, January 17, 2011. Some corrections were being made to the
bases to change the color of the cement along the sides of the bases to better match the top of the base and the
sculpture color.
Ehrlich reported lighting had been ordered for the Site#1 monoliths by Steve Gillman but had not been received
to install. This should be completed sometime this month.
The Living Lenses sculpture was completed and staff had received pictures of the sculpture which appeared to be
the same as the original proposal however the artists were still working with the audio that would be installed
within the sculpture and accessed at the kiosks in the library and recreation center. She reported that these
should be completed soon and installation was estimated to be sometime late February 2011.
Ehrlich updated the board regarding the Site #3 Teatro XIX sculpture by Herk van Tongeren. She reported the
base had been poured. The sculpture would be installed once the adjustments were made to the brackets that
would hold the sculpture on the base. Estimated timeline was January or early February. Once the piece was
installed, Michael van Entry would begin the cleaning and patina process, contingent upon the weather.

Public Arts Advisory Board meeting. (C. Ehrlich, PAAB staff liaison)

Board Discussion
Each board member had been asked to review the sculptures prior to the board meeting. Members
spoke about the sculptures and how well they fit the space. Board member Harris noted that she had
gone to the art site and taken pictures of the placement of the sculptures and how well they looked in
that space.
Board members discussed the uneven look of the bases and asked that the bases be completed prior
to final payment. Ehrlich explained to the board that the bases were being redone along each side to
better match the color of the top of the bases and the colors within the dolometic stone. She explained
the process would more than likely not exactly match, but would allow a closer color and uniform
texture.
Board Action
A motion was made by board member Harrison, seconded by board member Dougherty to approve the
installation and final review of the Founder's Park CIP Art Project by Madeline Wiener contingent upon

more uniform with the top of the bases. A vote was taken and the motion passed 5-0 with board
members Burt and Gaudreau absent.
