Update Founder's Park Art Project.
Staff Comments
Public Art Board liaison Ehrlich reported the Gillman piece was complete. Living Lenses was working on the the
audio system. Ehrlich stated that she would ask Po Shu Wang for an update regarding the audio installation.
Ehrlich reported the patina work for Teatro XIX was coming along very well and would be completed soon. Ehrlich
invited the board to come by the following day to watch the patina process. Ehrlich explained that due to the ease
of removing the old sealer from the piece, the pricing for the work could be reduced by at least$2,000.
Artist Madeline Wiener was working with her assistant to complete the stone plaque for "CATCH" at Founder's
Park and plans for the park and art dedication would more than likely be in early June.
• Discussion regarding the Wylie Municipal Complex Art Dedications.
Staff Comments
Staff liaison Ehrlich asked the board if May 21, 2011 would be open for the Wylie Municipal Complex Art
Dedications. She explained there were still some contacts that had not committed to this date but asked that it be
set to give staff time to organize the plaques and other items. She noted, if conflicts arose, she would send out
notification to the board.
Board direction was to set May 21, 2011 at 3:00 pm as the date for the Municipal Complex Art Dedications.

Staff/Board Discussion/Direction
Board liaison Ehrlich addressed the board stating that the board had requested staff to prepare examples of
changes to fonts and wording on the proposed plaques for final approval by the Public Arts Advisory Board.
She explained staff had prepared options for each plaque based on board direction for final approval tonight.
Teatro XIX Description Plaque
Board member Burt and Harrison liked the third option for the Teatro XIX description plaque. Board member
Spillyards and Harrison asked that the artist's name and birth-death dates be centered under Teatro XIX.
Ehrlich reported the cost for this plaque would run $655.00. Direction from the board was to move forward
with that change.
Teatro XIX Bronze Plaque
Board members agreed with the changes made to the bronze plaque only asking that April be changed to
May for the dedication month. Ehrlich reported the cost for this plaque would run $363.00.
Wylie Voices
Ehrlich reported the zinc used in this plaque was pure zinc which would be very sustainable. She explained —
the artist's names were now shown and the formatting was left the same on Option #1. She explained that a
second option showing different formatting with the Wylie Art Program at the bottom was also included.
Board members gave direction for the option with the same formatting and the artist's names (Option #1) but
asked that the exclamation mark be removed and a period added. Ehrlich reported the cost for this plaque
would run $265.00.

Something Real Plaque
Board members liked the changes in font to the Gillman plaque asking only that the date be changed to
reflect May as the dedication month. Ehrlich reported the cost for this plaque would run $363.00.
CATCH
Board liaison Ehrlich presented two options for the CATCH piece. One with quotations in the title and one
without. She explained that the quotes were not to highlight the title but rather the artist wishing this to be an
action thus requesting the quotes. Board members agreed that if the artist wanted the quotation marks, they
should be included. The board gave direction to include the quotation marks and asked that the font of
ARTIST be bolded if possible. Ehrlich reported the cost would not be determined until final details were
available. The artist is giving the board a turnkey price for the 26x14x14 dolomitic limestone plaque. She
explained that the artist was donating the stone in which to design the piece from.
Board Action
A motion was made by board member Burt, seconded by board member Harris to approve the final
plaques with the direction given for each plaque and to approve the cost of each plaque as
presented with the exception of"CATCH" which cost will be presented at a later date. A vote was
taken and the motion passed 6-0 with board member Matthews absent.
ADJOURNMENT
With no other business before the board, a motion was made by board member Dougherty,
seconded by board member Harrison to adjourn the meeting at 7:10 p.m. A vote was taken and the
motion passed 6-0 with Chair Matthews absent.
