CALL TO ORDER
Announce the presence of a Quorum.
The meeting was called to order at 6:40 p.m. by Chairman Stewart Matthews. Board members in
attendance were Erin Dougherty, Polly Harrison, Ashley Burt, and Deya Harris. Board member Thomas
Gaudreau and Kathy Spillyards were absent.
Staff present included Carole Ehrlich, board liaison/secretary.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
• Update to the Municipal Complex Art Projects for Site #1 Site #2 and Site #3;
Update Founder's Park Art Project.
Staff Comments
Public Art Board liaison Ehrlich reported the Gillman piece was completed. Living Lenses would be completing
work on the audio system Friday April 22. Ehrlich reported the patina work for Teatro XIX was complete and the
waxing would be done in 3-4 months due to the patina needing to cure. Artist Madeline Wiener was working with
her assistant to complete the stone plaque for "CATCH" at Founder's Park and plans for the park and art
dedication would more than likely be in early June.
Ehrlich reported that photos of the Teatro XIX art sculpture had been sent to art consultant Sharon Leeber who
was very pleased with the final patina completed by Michael van Enter.
Ehrlich presented the final invoice for the art plaques which included the large aluminum plaque for Teatro XIX
showing a final cost with shipping of$1,816 for 4 plaques.
• Discussion regarding the Wylie Municipal Complex Art Dedications.
Staff Comments
Staff liaison Ehrlich gave the final art dedication invitation to each of the board members. She reported that over
220 invitations were sent. She presented the press release created by Public Information Office Kelly that was
distributed to all new media outlets.
Ehrlich noted that an invitation had been sent to Former First Lady, Laura Bush inviting her to the dedication. Staff
has not received a response to date. She explained that Mrs. Bush had attended the first library dedication back
in the early 90's.

Ehrlich reported the senior classes at Wylie East and Wylie High School would be presenting their art work at the
library the day of the event and local artist John Pototschnik would be displaying his art work.
She asked for direction from the board during the business item regarding the amount of food to order noting that .�
the Fire Department was purchasing the hot dogs, buns and condiments for the event to be reimbursed from the
public art funds. She also asked for direction regarding the preparation of the agenda and activities for the
dedication.
BUSINESS ITEMS
1. Consider and act upon approval of the minutes from the March 23, 2011 Public
Arts Advisory Board meeting. (C. Ehrlich, PAAB staff liaison)
Board Action
A motion was made by board member Dougherty seconded by board member Harris to
approve the minutes of the March 23, 2011 Public Arts Board meeting. A vote was taken and
the motion passed 5-0 with board members Spillyards and Gaudreau absent.
2. Consider and act upon the final items and costs associated with the Municipal
Complex Art Dedication scheduled for May 7, 2011.
Staff Comments
PAAB liaison Ehrlich reported staff has been working with the Fire Department to create a menu for refreshments
for the dedication event. The Fire Department has agreed to cook hot dogs and purchase the items necessary.
They have asked the board to reimburse them for the items purchased. She explained that staff will purchase
drinks and chips. Ehrlich asked for direction regarding numbers of items to be purchased and direction to
purchase these items.
Board Action
A motion was made by board member Harrison, seconded by board member Dougherty to approve the
purchase of 200 hot dogs and chips along with plenty of bottled water for the event; additionally I move
that staff members Carole Ehrlich and Craig Kelly prepare the agenda of events for the day. A vote was
taken and the motion passed 5-0 with board members Spillyards and Gaudreau absent.
ADJOURNMENT
With no other business before the board, a motion was made by board member Burt, seconded by
board member Harris to adjourn the meeting at 7:08 p.m. A vote was taken and the motion passed 6-0
with board members Spillyards and Gaudreau absent.
