Action Items
1. Consider and act upon the approval of the Minutes from the August 23, 2004,
meeting.
Minutes were approved as read.
2. Discuss and Act Upon the Approval of the Revised Library Advisory Board
Bylaws.
The bylaws were changed to say that new appointees must be sworn in within 15
days of council appointment. Also, the bylaw amendments are to be sent out to
the board 72 hours in advance rather than 10 days. The bylaws were
unanimously approved by the Board, and they will go to Council on October 26,
2004.
3. Discuss Monthly Report for September 2004 and the Annual Report.
The Library had a good year and a busy one. Programs were well attended
especially Summer Reading Club. Participation in the Library Card Month
contests with the schools decreased. However, there was a 13% increase in
patron registrations this year. Mary Vaughan suggested giving a prize that
would be more appealing to the kids like having the principals agree to do
something silly like read on top of the building or be dunked into a dunking
booth. Mignon commented she would take the ideas and think about making
some changes for next year.
4. Discuss Christmas Party.
Scott Ames, President, needs to decide which menu items we can afford for a
certain price and report back to the board. This will be discussed at the
November meeting.
