BOARD MEETING
The Library Board of the City of Wylie met in regular session on August 23, 2004, at the Library.
The attendees were:

Call to Order
Citizen Participation
Presentation
Mignon Morse, Library Director, presented an orientation for the board. Board
members were given packets with policies and statistics in them and a copy of the
Library Advisory Board Handbook from TSLAC.
Action Items
1. Consider and act upon the appointment of new Board Officers.
Scott Ames was nominated as president and Grace Morrison was nominated as vice
chairman.
2. Consider and act upon the approval of the Minutes from the June 14, 2004,
meeting.
Minutes were approved as read.
3. Consider and Act Upon Approval of the Revised Collection Development Policy.
The Board discussed the policy and approved it with a few minor changes.
4. Discuss and Act Upon the Approval of the Revised Library Advisory Board
Bylaws.
Mignon suggested adding a statement in the bylaws requiring board members to
be sworn in before the first meeting. The board approved the bylaws with that
amendment.
5. Discuss Monthly Report for July 2004.
The circulation for July increased significantly. Other areas should increases
too.
6. Discuss Summer Reading Club Report.
Summer Reading Club registrations increased to 925 registrations in 2004, a
32% increase from last year. There were 5759 people who attended Summer
Reading Club 2004. The programs were well received and there were several
compliments. Valli Hoski asked if we could thank staff for their hard work during
Summer Reading Club. The board agreed to put that on the October agenda.
Staff Reports
Mignon announced several programs that are coming up in September. On
September 13, 2004, Clinky will be performing at 6:30 p.m. at the Library. On
September 14, 2004, Rita Smith will be presenting new library cards to the
Council.
Future Meeting Dates
The Board agreed to have meetings on October 11, 2004 and November 8,
2004. The Christmas Dinner will be at Woodbridge on December 13 at 6:30
p.m. Scott will make reservations for staff and board. Details for the December
dinner will be discussed at the October Board meeting.
