RITA & TRUETT SMITH PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES March 25 , 1991 The Library Board of the City of Wylie met in regular session on March 25 , 1991 , in the workroom of the Rita & Truett Smith Public Library, at 7 : 00 P.M. A quorum was present and notice of the meeting was posted in the time and manner required by law. Those present were : Barbara Jennings , Retha Tibbals , Betty Stephens , Mary Jo Smith, Jan Morgan, Shirley Burnett , and Phyllis Floyd, library director . APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR FEBRAURY 25 , 1991 : Minutes were ap- proved as submitted . SUMMER READING PROGRAM: It was recommended that Phyllis Floyd and Gerry Klese•il head the "Camp Wanna Read" reading program. This would free budget money for materials rather than using the funds for an outside director . Suggestions for activities and materials to be used in the program were discussed . TEXAS STATE LIBRARY BOARD ANNUAL REPORT: The State Library Board annual report for the fiscal year 1990 was discussed, and clarification of items were given . NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK: National Library Week is April 14-20 . Suggestions for ways of publizing the week were discussed . The city will be asked to issue a proclamation for recognition of the week. The library will be responsible for publicity to the newspapers . Book markers will be distributed that week. A poster contest will be held with prizes given in three age categories . NEW BOOK DROP: The book drop has been installed and is much appreciated. BLUE BONNETT AWARD BOOKS: The library has acquired all the Texas Bluebonnet books . PROGRESS REPORT ON THE SPRING BREAK PROGRAM: Books and videos are being returned and many long-overdue books are being brought in. Meeting adjourned.
