January 27 , 1992
The Library Board of the City of Wylie met in regular session
on January 27 , 1992 , in the workroom of the Rita & 'Truett
Smith Public Library , at 7 : 00 P .M. A quorum was present and
notice of the meeting was posted in the time and manner required
by law. Those present were : Retha Tibbals , Pat Guess ,
Bebs Fulkerson, Shirley Burnett , and Phyllis Floyd, library
director .
APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR NOVEMB) R 18 , 1991 : Minutes of the
last meeting were approved as submitted.
OATH OF OFFICE: Barbara LeCocq administered the Oath of
Office to Bebs Fulkerson.
CHRISTMAS PAGE: AS of the date of this meeting, $1 ,046 . 00 has been
collected for the Christmas Greeting Page . Suggestions for
next year ' s page were given. These included sending letters
to businesses as early as September explaining the purpose of
the page and listing some of the ways the money has been used
in the past . Also it was suggested a newspaper item be
submitted explaining the page . This year ' s funds will probably
finish the :expensestof :anion-line computer for patron use .

students of all ages in meeting educational objectives
established during their formal courses of study.
Independent Learning Center: The library supports
individuals of all ages pursuing a sustained program of
learning independent of any educational provider.
Popular Materials Library: The library features current,
high-demand, high-interest materials in a variety of
formats for persons of all ages.
Preschoolers ' Door to Learning: The library encourages
young children ,to develop an interest in reading and
learning through services for children, and for parents
and children together.
Reference Library: The library actively provides timely,
accurate, and useful information for community residents.
Research Center: The library assists scholars and researchers
to conduct in-depth studies, investigate specific areas of
knowledge, and create new knowledge.
