LIBRARY WORK ROOM 800 THOMAS STREET CALL TO ORDER ORDER PAGE BUSINESS REFERENCE BUSINESS 1 1 CONSIDER APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM AUGUST 8, 1993 LIBRARY BOARD MEETING 2 ELECTION FOR BOARD SECRETARY 3 UPDATE FROM FRIENDS OF THE SMITH LIBRARY-ELLEN SMITH & RITA SMITH 4 2-3 DISCUSS MONTHLY REPORTS 5 4-5 DISCUSS NEWSLETTERS- OCTOBER & NOVEMBER 6 6-10 DISCUSS AND CONSIDER GREETING CARD PAGE 7 CITIZEN PARTICIPATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETING ACT, THE LIBRARY WILL HEAR COMMENTS OF PUBLIC INTEREST FROM RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF WYLIE, ANY DISCUSSION MUST BE LIMITED TO PLACING ITEMS ON A FUTURE AGENDA FOR FURTHER CONSIDERATION,WYLIE RESIDENTS WISHING TO SPEAK SHOULD LIMIT REMARKS TO A MAXIMUM OF FIVE MINUTES 8 ADJOURN RITA & TRUETT SMITH PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD MEETINGS August 9 , 1993 The Library Board of the City of Wylie met in regular session on August 9 , 1993 , in the workroom of the Rita & Truett Smith Public Library , at 7 : 00 P .M. A quorum was present and notice of the meeting was posted in the time and manner required by law. Those present were: Pat Guess , Elizabeth Allen, Shirley Burnett , Bill Nelson, Director , and Phyllis Floyd , Librarian. FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY: Rita Smith and Ellen Smith met with the board to discuss the Friends . They reported around $3 , 000 . 00 in the Friends fund . They plan to re-prganize and to write by- laws for the organization. They will also check with the city lawyer about the legalization of dues . OFFICERS : Pat Guess was elected Chairman of the Board . Elizabeth Allen will serve as Vice-chairman , and Jerri Smith was elected Secretary . APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR JULY 14 , 1993 : The minutes were approved with the corrected date . MONTHLY REPORTS: After an electrical inspection, a T.U. electrician reported that the computer problems appear to be minor . It should be easily fixed . NEWSLETTER FOR AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER : The September calendar will be changed to read that the library will be closed on Saturday and Monday of the Labor Day holiday . LIBRARY CONFIDENTIALITY POLICY: It was moved and seconded that the board adopt the policy prepared by the AD Hoc Con- fidentiality Committee of the Public Library Administration of North Texas until/or a better policy is presented . The motion carried . The General policy will be posted in the library and the General and Specific guidelines will be given to library personnel . WISH LIST: Phyllis gave explanations of various items with which the board was not familiar . COLLIN COUNTY FUNDING: No funds will be coming from Collin County for the library as in the past .
