RITA & TRUETT SMITH PUBLIC LIBRARY
BOARD MEETINGS , OCTOBER 11 , 1993
The Library Board of the City of Wylie met in regular
session on October 11 , 1993 in the workroom of the Rita &
Truett Smith Public Library, at 7 : 00P . M. A quorum was
present and notice of the meeting was posted in the time and
manner required by law. Those present were : Pat Guess,
Elizabeth Allen, Cathy Weatherspoon, Tasha Collins and
Phyllis D. Floyd, Librarian.
ELECTION FOR SECRETARY :
Since Jerri Smith declined her position as secretary,
Shirley Burnett was reelected to the position of Secretary,
unanimously.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR AUGUST 9 , 1993:
The minutes were approved.
FRIENDS :
Phyllis reported to the board that she had spoke to Rita
Smith earlier and she had nothing new to report on the
Friends group . Phyllis also reported that they have been
two donations turned in recently for the friends club.
Phyllis stated she would like to see the money go to the
purchase of books . Tasha Collins ask if Phyllis knew what it
would cost to have a security system That would code each
material to help cut down on the losses of materials .
Phyllis didn ' t know , but thought it would be a worthwhile
project for the money.
MONTHLY REPORTS :
Phyllis reported that the Library is still suffering with
computer problems . The Electrician has been out to do
repairs but TU electric has been called because the problems
are still causing great losses of data.
NEWSLETTERS :
Phyllis also told the board that she has her monitor at home
in the shop and that is where the newsletters are produced
no further newsletters after November till it ' s repaired.
GREETING CARD PAGE :
Phyllis and the other board members explained to Tasha
Collins what the Greeting card page is and that the board
likes to fund a single project from the funds each year.
Last years funds were spent on the continuing computer
problems .
It was decided by the board that we would continue this fund
raising project . Phyllis is to contact Newspaper to see
what the charge if any will be to run the full page ad, we
in the pass have been paying $252 .
The meeting adjourned.
