LIBRARY WORK ROOM 800 THOMAS STREET CALL TO ORDER ORDER PAGE BUSINESS REFERENCE BUSINESS 1 SWEARING IN OF NEW BOARD MEMBER SANDRA DONOVAN CONSIDER APPROVAL OF 2 1 MINUTES FROM APRIL 11 , 1994 LIBRARY BOARD MEETING 3 2 DISCUSS MONTHLY REPORTS 4 UPDATE ON NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK 5 DISCUSS AND CONSIDER`' OPEN HOUSE FOR LIBRARY 6 CITIZEN PARTICIPATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETING ACT, THE LIBRARY WILL HEAR COMMENTS OF PUBLIC INTEREST FROM RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF WYLIE , ANY DISCUSSION MUST BE LIMITED TO PLACING ITEMS ON A FUTURE AGENDA FOR FURTHER CONSIDERATION,WYLIE RESIDENTS WISHING TO SPEAK SHOULD LIMIT REMARKS TO A MAXIMUM OF FIVE MINUTES 7 ADJOURN RI' 'A & TRUETT SMITH PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD MEETING April 11 , 1994 The Library Board of the City of Wylie met in regular session on April 11 , 1994, in the Rita & Truett Smith Public Library, at 7 : 00 P .M. A quorum was present and notice of the meeting was posted in the time and manner required by law. Those present were : Pat Guess , Jerri Smith, Cathy Weatherspoon, Elizabeth Allen, Shirley Burnett , and Phyllis Floyd , Librarian. APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM FEBRUARY 14, 1994 : The minutes were approved as written . RIGHT TO READ: Anna Rosa of the Wylie Right to Read program informed the board that they had received grant money for the purchase of a computer , but as they have no office, there is a question of placement . The board offered the use of the Bluebonnet Room pending the obtaining of insusrance coverage . MONTHLY REPORTS: The monthly reports were discussed . The new computer is installed so even though there are still software problems , the reports should be more accurate . COMPUTER SYSTEM: LoanNet with NETLS is in place. Response for requests are much faster as books may be located in surrounding libraries . NEWSLETTER: The newsletter will be a news release about National Library Week. NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK: Questions about libraries are being distributed through the library and city hall . Tally of the questions will go to the American Library Association. This will help in preparing legislation concerning libraries . The library will have a children ' s reading program during the week of April 17-23 with various prizes given for reading certain numbers of books . The meeting adjourned .
