Background Circulation is down by a hundred plus, but the average daily amount is increased. Financial Consideration None Legal Consideration None Board/Commission Recommendation Doing programs for all age levels to help boost circulation and let the public know we are here to help them with all their informational needs. Staff Recommendation In the month of April instead of giving a book away in the Pick-A-Book program we gave a stuffed bunny. In May we are returning to the original book as a give-away. We will continuing our program called Family Reading Night to encourage the parents to pick a night to turn the TV off and read to their children or let their children read to them. The library's family reading night will be third Tuesday of each month.. We continue to have reading records, book- marks, etc. to hand out to the parents. Preschool Story Time is still drawing a large number of children. In May we will be having another reading program with McDonald's called Solve Mysteries-Read. Ideas for change in hours to better serve our community . Background Community survey discussed in last board meeting with recommended changes. Submitted for final approval. Financial Consideration None Legal Consideration None Board/Commission Recommendations Board has recommended we do a survey to help identify community and the community needs. Staff Recommendations Survey to be distributed through the Wylie Independent School System the second week in May. This survey will also appear in the Wylie Employee Newsletter on May 20. There is no date for the Wylie Community Newsletter, but the plan is to include the survey in the next edition. This should give us wide coverage for the distribution of the survey. The print shop has promised that if we get the survey to them by Tuesday they could be finished as early as Thurday afternoon. They will be printing, numbering and stacking in 20's three thousand to be distributed to the five schools. I have promised Betty Stephens we will have the surveys to her no later than Friday the 12th. If the Schools gets them to the students by 19th that gives the citizens 10 days before they are due to returned. I will be out of town until after Thursday the 11th. I recommend the survey go to printer as is because I will not be back in town until the 11th and no one on the staff is familiar with word perfect to make additional changes. There could still be changes made for the following survey if needed. Attachments- survey Prepared by 7. Background Board has been discussing different ideas to used to promote the library during July jubilee. Financial Consideration Legal Consideration Board/Commission Recommendation Jerri Smith made arrangements for the library to use the well area at the Birmingham House during the parade to sell books and hand out materials. It was suggested that we wrap discarded books and use them in a grab box for everyone who fills out a survey. Sandy Donovan has over sized books to be used on library float or we can just walk this would give us the opportunity to give hand outs to the crowd. Open House in the Library with refreshments to be served. Staff Recommendation We will be holding a book sale in the community room on the Saturday of July Jubilee. We may have the sale the Saturday before and after since I have both weekends cleared for use by the Library. Open House during the Saturday of July Jubilee with refreshments of lemonade and cookies. Parade entry with over sized books also have someone walking and handing out pamphlets or bookmarks.
