Library Book Sale
Issue
The library is sponsoring a sale of deleted and donated materials. Friends of the
Library group to benefit from sale with funds to be added to the ongoing project.
Friends' group has an ongoing project to have the back issues of the Wylie News
put onto Microfilm. This microfilm and a microfilm reader printer will be placed
in the library.
Background
The materials included in this sale are materials the librarian has weeded from
existing collection and materials patrons have donated. The library had eleven
hundred new books donating in October. The shelves were so crowded that it
was necessary to weed the collection to make space. A previous weeding date
unknown but I recognized most of the books that were weeded from fifteen years
ago. Books are weeding according to condition of book, copyright and usefulness
of material. Sale will be publicized in the paper, newsletter, flyers and during the
parade. Sale is open to the entire community.
Financial Consideration
The following are the prices to be placed on materials:
Hard Bound Books $1.00

Birmingham House Activities
Issue
Birmingham House Well has been reserved for use by the library activities during
and after the parade on July 15. These activities are being publicized in conjunction
with all other July Jubilee library activities. Library surveys will be available at the
well location for citizens to fill out for each completed survey. The citizen will
receive a new book wrapped in plain brown paper and a chance to win a free dinner
from one of the participating merchants. Board member Jerri Smith and employee
Scottie Robbins will be at the well to distribute surveys, free magnet, lapel pins,
pencils and library brochures.
Background
The board recommended that we search out an area to have for distribution of
library materials during the parade. Jerri Smith contacted the powers that be and
arranged for the library to use the Birmingham House Well. This was considered to
be an excellent opportunity to get citizens to fill out library surveys.

This will be an excellent area for citizens to fill out a survey. There will be ample
space to display the library's banner and library service placards in the grassy area
adjacent to the well. Wrapped books may be stored out of the way for distribution
on completion of the survey.

ready to deliver to the well area along with the magnets, lapel buttons, library
brochure and pencils to be given away. Banners and placards will be brought to the
well area by employee, Geri Klesel at the completion of the parade.
