BOARD MEETING
February 12, 1996
The Library Board of the City of Wylie met in regular session on February 12,
1996, in the Rita & Truett Smith Public Library at 7:00 p.m. The attendees were:

Call to Order
1. Gerry Whitt was sworn in by Susan Shuler, City Secretary
2. Minutes from the January 9, 1996, Library Advisory Board meeting were
approved
3. Approval of Policy
The Confidentiality poll y was approved after assurance from Mike
Collins, City Manager, that the policy did not need to be approved by the
City Attorney.
4. Discussion of 4B Sales!,Tax Money.
Mignon provided the Library Advisory Board with a copy of the memo
presented to Mike Collins, City Manager on January 11, 1996, requesting
approval for spending t-le 4b sales tax money. She reviewed each item
on the memo into detain.
5. Discussion of the Hillcrest Grant
Mignon announced she is working on a grant with the Hillcrest
Foundation to provide Money for shelving and construction. The grant
requirements asked forlthe Board members addresses. Mignon asked
permission to submit their addresses. Everyone gave their consent.
6. Discussion of Meadows Grant
Mignon submitted a gr nt in January to the Meadows Foundation to
request money for furniture and construction.
7. Discuss Shelving donation.
B. Dalton books donated two ranges of shelving to the Library on January
26, 1996. The shelves will be used in the stacks until the renovation is
completed. Upon completion of the new building, they will be used in the
Technical Services area.
8. Discuss National Library Week
The Friends of the Library are planning a celebration for National Library
Week . The event will be a cappuccino tasting demo and storytelling by
Elizabeth Ellis. Starbucks will furnish the cappuccino. There will be a
nominal charge of $3.00 per individual and $5.00 for a family to cover the
expenses. The event will be held at the First Baptist Church of Wylie and
sponsored by American National Bank. .
9. Discuss Clean-Up Green-Up
In conjunction with Clean Up Green Up day on April 20, 1996, the Library
will host a special program featuring Professor Pflugelhorn, a magician
who focuses his show on environmental issues.
10. New Business
Mignon announced that a Dallas Sidekick, Eric Dade, will be coming to
the Library on March 6 at 3:30.
11. Meeting was adjourned by Jerri Smith at 8:00 p.m.
