06-24-1991 (Library) Minutes :ITA & TRUETT SMITH PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES June 24 , 1991 The Library Board of the City of Wylie met in regular session on June 24, 1991 , in the workroom of the Rita & Truett Smith Public Library, at 7 : 00 P.M. A quorum was present and notice of the meeting was posted in the time and manner required by law. Those present were: Mary Jo Smith, Retha Tibbals , Betty Stephens , Shirley Burnett , and Phyllis Floyd, library director . APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR MARCH 25 , 1991 : Minutes were approved as submitted. RIGHT-TO-READ RECEPTION: Betty Stephens reported on the Right- To-Read recepiton for tutors who have hone through the training program. Certificates will be awarded, and a special thanks should be given Pat Guess for the work she has done in directing the program. A letter from Barbara Bush acknowledging the good work accomplished by the_Wylie_Right-To-Read program was read . CAMP WANNA READ: Phyllis Floyd reported 72 were enrolled in the summer reading program. The ages ranged from 4 -year olds to students in the 6th grade . During each session there is a story, a co-ordinating activity, and an outside activity . Also planned during the camp will be a T-shirt day and a weineer roast with a fire truck visiting the picnic . Besides the library personnel and volunteers working with the camp, Collin County Community College, through one of their programs , is paying two high school girls for 40 hours of work each week.
