Board Meeting
November 14, 1994
The Library Board of the City of Wylie met in regular session on November 14,
1994, in the work room of the Rita&Truett Smith Public Library, at 7:00 PM. The
attendees were:

Meeting Minutes
Call to Order
#1 - The approval of the minutes from the October 10, 1994 meeting.
The minutes were approved.
#2- Discuss and consider the monthly reports.
The monthly reports were reviewed,discussed and approved.
#3 - Discuss and consider the greeting card page.
Board member, Ms. Cathy Weatherspoon drafted and mailed them out to the
targeted businesses.
#4- Discuss and consider the date and time that the Library Open House will be held.
The decision was made to go with the proposed date and time. That is, Sunday,
December 4th, 1994,from 2pm to 4 pm.
#5 - Discussion of the book donations from the Dallas Morning News..
This was the second donation of books to the Rita&Truett Smith Library from
the Dallas Morning News. The donation was comprised of 1,025 books.
#6- Discuss and consider the fundraising activities on behalf of the "Friends of the
Library" sponsers each year.
After much debate,it was decided that all of the individuals participating in the
fundraiser will follow a script. The purpose of the script is to ensure some
measure of consistency among the participants. The targeted date for script
availability is November 28th, 1994.
#7 - The discussion of the "water bill notification"idea.
This idea was approved. It entails using the space on the back of the water and
sewage bill to solicit library donations.
#8 - A presentation by Mr. Steve Norwood,Wylie City Manager, on the new .5% city
sales tax.
Mr. Norwood presented the board with information on how the monies raised by
the new tax could be used to fund library improvements. He also requested that
the members come up with a list of improvements and relative priorities.
#9 - The meeting was adjourned.
