Call to Order
1. Approval of the Minutes.
Minutes were approved as read from the October 13 meeting.
2. Presentation, and Discuss and Act Upon the Internet Policy.
Mignon presented a brief presentation on the Internet Policy and filtering
issues. Questions concerning the release form were addressed. There was
a discussion about whether or not a library card was needed to use the
Internet. Mignon commented that the card would be used to keep a record of
who had signed the released form. The staff can call up the patron record
which will have a notation if there is a form on file. This will save time from
looking through paper files. Cathy commented on the increased work load
for staff. Mignon agreed that the workload is increasing and the staffing level
is staying the same. Volunteer recruitment will become a high priority in
January. Hopefully, a volunteer base will help the increased workload. The
policy was approved unanimously 7 to 0.
New Business
On January 13 at 7:00 p.m. two members of the Library Advisory Board will
make a presentation to the City Council. Shirley Burnett and Tom Proctor will be
doing the presentation on the Internet policy. On January 27 the Council will
approve or disapprove the policy.
Old Business
The Board discussed the Christmas party and agreed that it would be on
December 9. The Library will close at 7:00 p.m. so the staff can attend.
Meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
