UPDATE ON LIBRARY STATUS AND CIRCULATION STATISTICS: The Library Director is
interviewing possible employees for the two part-time positions, and has hired
Jennifer Howrey, Wylie High School junior, for employment on Saturdays. Circu-
lation was at its highest level during March, with 4,197 items circulated.
DISCUSSION OF FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY FLYERS DELIVERY: DISCUSSION of whether
to mail Friends flyers through the City water bills, or deliver personally by
areas with Board members and other helpers dividing certain residential neigh-
borhoods. Each Board member will take 20 flyers and envelopes with stamps to
personal contacts that will likely respond. Board members felt that it would be
effective to mail the flyers with the water bills. Possible well-known person
to have an Open House for Friends and new members. Perhaps the authors of the
Evidence of Love book might come out since the movie will be on television on
May 22, 1990.
Could the Water bill have a message to read the enclosure on the Friends flyer?
Mrs. Burgess said she would check. What date would the Open House be for Friends?
May 29th is part of the Memorial Day weekend, so June the third would be best.
Mrs. Beb Fulkerson, who has written the history of Wylie, may have her book ready
for sale by June, and would be willing to come to the Open House to display her
book. It was voted to put the Friends flyers in the water bills.
