CALL TO ORDER
The Public Arts Advisory Board meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm by Chairman Anne Hiney.
Board members present included: Britt Volker, Gaynell Reed, Susan Spurgin, DeeAnn Ross, and Lisa
Green. Vice Chair Lynn Grimes was absent.
Staff present included Carole Ehrlich, board liaison Public Information Officer Craig Kelly. Also
attending was Jim Lenox, former member of the board.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
• Discussion regarding a proposed 2014 Spring Art & Jazz Festival. (C. Ehrlich, PAAB
Liaison)
Board/Staff Discussion
PAAB members were updated regarding further plans for the 2014 Spring JazzArt Fest. Board liaison
Ehrlich reported that at the November 12, 2013 City Council meeting, Council voted not to include wine
sales at the event.
Board Chair Hiney reported the entertainment committee consisting of board member Volker and she had
three professional bands they were prepared to place under contract for the event. Contracts for the
bands will be forthcoming to allow time for staff to review the contracts prior to booking the bands. Several
regional high school bands also were showing interest in performing at the event.
The Vendor Committee consisting of Lynn Grimes and Gaynell Reed reported that two of the art
organizations contacted had indicated they would be interested in showcasing some of their artists.
Ehrlich noted an e-mail had been sent to all fine artists on the department mailing list to seek interest in
applying for a booth at the event.
Children's Activities Committee member Susan Spurgin reported the committee had met and had several
ideas for artistic children's activities and were waiting on a firm budget to book those activities. Sprugin
reported that businesses were going to be contacted to seek interest in sponsorship opportunities for
some of the children's activities.
The board postponed further planning until after the conclusion of the Wylie Arts Festival scheduled for
November 25,2013 Wylie Public Arts Advisory Regular Meeting Minutes Page 12
December 7, 2013. The board will review the progress and hear additional planning in January of 2014 at
their regular meeting.
• Discussion regarding updates to the December 7, 2013 Wylie Arts Festival. (C.
Ehrlich, PAAB Liaison)
Executive Summary
PAAB liaison Ehrlich reported that staff had received 109 applications for the Wylie Art Festival. Staff was
still accepting vendors for outside booths.
Entertainment Chair Spurgin reported that all time slots for entertainment had been filled for the inside
stage. No outside stage would be required this year since only a couple of dance studios responded
wishing to entertain at the event. Jim Lenox, volunteer chair reported that he had a list of volunteers that
would assist both Friday evening for booth set up and all day Saturday, including clean up.
Each member agreed to meet at 5:30 p.m. on December 6, 2013 at the FBC Center to assist vendors
coming to set up and be at the FBC Events Center December 7, 2013 by 6:30 a.m. to assist again with
morning set ups.
• Discussion regarding an art project for the remodeled Public Safety Building. (C.
Ehrlich, PAAB Liaison)
Executive Summary3
PAAB liaison Ehrlich updated the board on the progress of placing art at the newly remodeled Public
Safety Building, including two artists that had submitted some information and were wishing to propose art
for the site. Ehrlich noted this was after direction from the board to seek proposals by Sid Henderson and
an artist from Seikolos FX. She reported that she had been in contact with artist Julie Rebouche' Pitman
who was affiliated with Seikolos FX and wishing to propose either a bronze relief sculpture and/or a stone
proposal for the site.
Direction from the board was to bring back proposals to the board in January once the Wylie Arts Festival
was concluded.
REGULAR AGENDA
1. Consider and act upon approval of the Public Arts Advisory Board minutes from
October 17, 2013 Regular PAAB meeting. (C. Ehrlich, PAAB Liaison)
Board Action
A motion was made by board member Volker, seconded by board member Green to approve the PAAB
minutes from the October 17, 2013 Public Art Board meeting. A vote was taken and the motion passed 6-
0 with board member Grimes absent. eil

ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by board member Reed, seconded by board member Green to adjourn the PAAB
meeting at 8:34 p.m. A vote was taken and the motion passed 6-0 with board member Grimes absent.
