Monday, July 14, 2014 — 7:00 pm

CALL TO ORDER
Announce the presence of a Quorum.
Members present: Mindy Ayers, Todd Abronowitz, Dorothy Corbin Brand, Shirley Burnett,
Gerry Washington, Kenneth Cash & Rachel Orozco, Board Liaison
Members absent: Sandra Stone
CITIZENS COMMENTS ON NON-AGENDA ITEMS .
Residents may address Board regarding an item that is not listed on the Agenda. Residents must provide their name
and address. Board requests that comments be limited to three(3)minutes. In addition, the Board is not allowed to
converse, deliberate or take action on any matter presented during citizen participation.
No citizens were present at the meeting.
PRESENTATION
Welcome new Board Member: Kenneth Cash.
ACTION ITEMS
The Library Board Minutes of Monday, June 9, 2014 were approved as presented.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
There are now two training sessions for Board Members. The new training is on ethics and was
recently passed by City Council and is required for all Board Members to do on a yearly basis.
The other training is in regard to the Texas Open Meetings Act and Conflicts of Interest. Board
Members were encouraged to contact the city Secretary to check on their training status and sign
up for training if necessary.
STAFF REPORTS
Library Budget FY15 Council Meeting will be held at 6:00pm on Tuesday, July 15. There will
be another budget meeting held on Tuesday, July 29 at 6:00pm at which time the City Manager
will present her budget request recommendations to Council. Board Members were encouraged
to attend if possible.

The PowerPoint presentation that was prepared to present at the City Council meeting was
presented to the Board. The main request was to add additional hours in order to have more
consistent opening times. Board Members gave suggestions and/or comments on items
including emphasizing library size, programs in separate rooms requiring additional staffing,
collection size and population growth.
