ACTION ITEMS
The Library Board Minutes of Monday, July 14, 2014 were approved as presented.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
The budget was presented to Council on July 15 and they requested the presentation be revised to
include a 6 hour increase in the schedule. We were unable to move part-time staff to full time
because of the cost of benefits. However, some of the part-time staff working 20 hours will be
increased to 24 hours and some staff hours will stay the same. We were able to add part-time
staff as follows:
Children/Teen: 2 additional reference assistants & 1 professional librarian
Adult: Upgrade current reference assistant to professional librarian and add 1 reference
assistant.
Circulation: 2 new library technicians & 1 shelver
New Library hours will be:
• Monday, Tuesday & Thursday: 10:00am-8:00pm

• Wednesday: 10:00am-6:00pm
• Friday & Saturday: 10:00am-5:00pm
The new hours can't be advertised until final approval of the budget by City Council at the
meeting on the 2nd Tuesday in September. We would like to use October to hire and train new
staff and begin the new hours in November. This has to be approved by Mindy Manson, City
Manager.
STAFF REPORTS
Library Budget FY15 remained flat and has stayed that way since we have opened. We may
have increased the book budget 5 to 10% but the other line items have remained flat.
Summer Reading Club was very successful and changing program times on Tuesday to 11:00,
12:00 & 1:00 seemed to work very well as they were highly attended. The Teen programs were
also successful and had high attendance.
Upcoming Special Events:
August is planning month for the library. 4th Monday Book Club @ goodreads.com & Booked
on Fridays are the only events currently scheduled.
Library resumes school-year hours: Monday, August 25, open 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT
Meeting adjourned at 7:50 pm.
