Regular Meeting

CALL TO ORDER
The Public Arts Advisory Board meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m. by Chairman Anne Hiney.
Board members present included: Lynn Grimes, Lisa Green, and Britt Volker. Board members Margaret
Boyd, Gaynell Reed and Kathy Spillyards were absent
Staff present included Carole Ehrlich, board liaison and Craig Kelly Public Information Officer.
CITIZEN COMMENTS
Board Chair Hiney recognized Downtown Merchant Association Officers Bobby Heath and Jeremy
Myer. They spoke briefly to the board regarding the WDMA's meeting and discussion regarding the
Bluegrass on Ballard Event in 2015. It had been suggested that the WDMA turn all vendors, including
not-for-profit, multi-market, and craft vendors to the PAAB for facilitating that portion of the event. They
asked to be placed on an upcoming agenda for formal approval of that plan once approved by the
WDMA.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
• Discussion regarding the Wylie Arts Festival and 2014/2015 Sponsorships.

Board Discussion
Craig Kelly reported that currently the sponsorships for the 2014 Wylie Art Partners and WAF were at 5.
They included Verizon, Wylie Pharmacy, Oncor, Wylie Insurance and Green Mountain. Methodist Hospital
had shown interest but was not closed at the time of the meeting. He urged all members to get out and
solicit sponsors.
The board discussed using the same sponsor tee shirt designs as last year and directed staff to get sizes
for ordering in the next week.
• Discussion regarding the Wylie Arts Festival Vendors. (C. Ehrlich, PAAB Liaison)
Board liaison Ehrlich reported that there were currently 99 vendors that had approved applications for the
Wylie Arts Festival. This number includes food vendors. Ehrlich noted that if more applications were
approved, those applicants would be offered an outside booth at a discounted rate.

• Update regarding the Public Safety Building Public Art Project. (C. Ehrlich, PAAB
Liaison),
Board Liaison Ehrlich gave a short report on the progress of artist Sid Henderson. She noted that the
board was continuing to receive updates and photos of the progress Mr. Henderson is making on the
fabrication of the bronze sculpture.
• Discussion regarding the 2014 Wylie Arts Festival board assignments. (C. Ehrlich, PAAB
Liaison)
Board members volunteered for committees for the upcoming WAF. They included:
Event Booth set up— Craig Kelly, Lynn Grimes, Carole and Tina
Volunteers— Lynn Grimes
Entertainment— Britt Volker
Vendor Assistance —Margaret Boyd and Gaynell Reed
Silent Auction —Carole Ehrlich and Tina Link
Sign-in table— Britt Volker, Lisa Green and Kathy Spillyards
Logistics—Craig Kelly
Children's Canvass — Craig reported he would get with the Public Works staff to see if they could stretch
the canvass on the frames. He will check with the art teacher at Wylie Prep to facilitate the activity.
All members must be present to assist with the set up on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday at 6:00
a.m.
REGULAR AGENDA
1. Consider, and act upon, approval of the Public Arts Advisory Board minutes from
the August 21, 2014 Regular meeting and the October 2, 2014 Special Called PAAB
meetings. (C. Ehrlich, PAAB Liaison)
Board Action
A motion was made by board member Grimes, seconded by board member Green to approve the minutes
of November 16, 2014 as presented. A vote was taken and the motion passed 4-0 with board members
Boyd, Reed and Spillyards absent.
ADJOURNMENT
With no further action before the board, a motion was made by board member Grimes, seconded by board
member Volker to adjourn the meeting at 8:15 p.m. A vote was taken and the motion passed 4-0 with
board members Boyd, Reed and, Spillyards absent.
