College. Jenny worked for many years at a credit union in New York. Abigail Biggs is the new
shelver in Circulation. She was working full time at Half Price Books and is currently taking a
break from attending college.
The Children's Department is having difficulty finding qualified people to fill their two
Reference Assistant positions that have experience and college degrees who want to work part-
time. Darlene Payton was formerly an art teacher and has resigned to take a full time teaching
position. We took that opportunity to make Kelsey Sidwell a full time position by combining
both of the part-time positions. That will give the Children's Department two full time
Reference Assistants. Veronica McKay is taking the part-time librarian position in order to
spend more time with her family which leaves the full time Teen librarian position open. We are
in the process of hiring Audrey Hopkins who was an intern here when she was finishing Library
School. She has been working at a Plano library for three years as a Teen Librarian.
Randall Cross has been working part-time as a Reference Assistant in the Adult Department. He
has his Master's Degree in Library Science and we were able to upgrade his status to part-time
librarian.
Friends Boo on Ballard Costume Contest Update:
The event was a success and the group made $240.00 which was an increase from $160.00 made
at last year's event. The Downtown Merchants match the amount that the Friends make which
brings the total to $480.00.
Library Policy Review:
The majority of the policies were revised and updated in 2011. With the new Board Members it
would be a good time to review all the policies and make changes as needed. An email has been
sent to staff asking what revisions they would like to make in any of the policies. Staff will get
with Rachel and then any proposed changes will be brought before the Board.
