06-18-2015 (Public Arts Advisory) Minutes 4/1.‘ Public Arts Advisory Board CITY OF WYLIE Minutes Regular Called Meeting June 18, 2015 — 6:30 p.m. Wylie Municipal Complex Council Chambers/Conference Room 300 Country Club Road, Bldg. 100 CALL TO ORDER The Public Arts Advisory Board meeting was called to order at 6:40 p.m. by Chairman Anne Hiney. Board members present included: Lynn Grimes, Lisa Green, Britt Volker, and Kathy Spillyards. Board members Gaynell Reed and Margaret Boyd were absent. Staff present included: Carole Ehrlich, board liaison. Introduction of newly appointed board members present (Taking Office July 1st) Board Chair Hiney introduced Anita Jones and Michelle Pugh both new members of the Public Arts Advisory Board who will be sworn in June 23rd and take office July 1st. Brooke Lopez and Lauren Howard were unable to attend. DISCUSSION ITEMS • Update/Discussion regarding the 2015 Bluegrass on Ballard Event (C. Ehrlich, PAAB Liaison-Board) Staff Comments Board liaison Ehrlich reported there were 115 applicants approved for the Bluegrass event. She asked that each member bring volunteers if possible and be onsite at the park no later than 6:00 am June 27th. She noted everyone would be needed due to the large number of booths and vendors that would need assistance. She reported the revenue collected from the vendors was $10,400. Board members discussed their participation and coming to assist with the event. • Update/Discussion regarding the 2015 Wylie Arts Festival (C. Ehrlich, PAAB Liaison-Board) Executive Summary Staff liaison Ehrlich reported there were 7 vendor applications and 3 food vendor applications received for the December event. June 18, 2015 Wylie Public Arts Advisory Regular Meeting Minutes 2 • Update/Discussion regarding the Public Safety Art Project (C. Ehrlich, PAAB Liaison-Board) Executive Summary Staff liaison Ehrlich presented photos of the completed sculpture previously sent to each member. She recognized artist Sid Henderson for his detail in creating the public safety officers. She noted the base construction was underway and would let the board know when it was close to completion. She stated that the foundry would hold the sculpture until the base was completed and the artist was available to deliver and install the sculpture. REGULAR AGENDA 1. Consider and act upon approval of the Public Arts Advisory Board minutes from the May 21, 2015 Regular meeting. (C. Ehrlich, PAAB Liaison) Board Action A motion was made by Vice Chair Grimes, seconded by board member Volker to approve the Public Arts Advisory Board minutes from May 21, 2015 as presented. A vote was taken and the motion passed 5-0 with board members Reed and Boyd absent. ADJOURNMENT With no further business before the board, a motion was made by board member Spillyards, seconded by board member Green to adjourn the meeting at 6:54 p.m. A vote was taken and the motion passed 5-0 with board members Reed and Boyd absent.
