DISCUSSION ITEMS
The Library staff met with the architects to look at the electrical outlets and phone data.
The staff also met with the consultants for audiovisual equipment. The architects are
coming the week of April 11 to review interiors and millwork.
The construction manager is looking at all three buildings to insure that is sound
engineering-wise. The brick wall in the Youth Services are has to be there. The interior
and exterior are both going to be stone. As a cost savings they have looked at eliminating
the stone in some areas of the interior. The Teen Room wall has changed to allow for
better site lines. Other suggestions were made but we were told "no". Rachel explained
what the wall would look like. The wall takes away square footage. The Library staff
has asked that there only be poles; however, structurally that was not possible. The
construction manager and talked to Shoemaker and Hardt to look at the café. Rachel also
went by Frisco to look at their café.
The meeting room needs to be revised so that we can define better our policy in regards
to programs. The Library has had requests from religious organizations. Groups can
meet for study but not for services. Political campaigning may not be conducted in the
Library; however, political forums for information are allowed. The Library has also
allowed groups to book the room for the entire year. The Library Board will review the
samples from other libraries for the next meeting.
