Minutes were read and approved for August 13, 2007
Grace Morrison said that the Library Board had the opportunity to be advocates
for the Library on Tuesday, September 11 to speak on behalf of the Library and
City bond programs.
The main follow-up for the orientation for new members was the advocacy.
Rachel Orozco reminded that Library Board members do not represent themselves
as individuals but as advocates for the Library and city.
The architects are meeting with Mayor and Council on Tuesday, September 11,
2007 about the environmental aspects of the building.
To speak at the Council meeting, citizens must arrive before 6 p.m. and sign-up to
speak. When speaking, it is recommended that Library Board members speak in
general terms about the budget and bond projects.
Rachel Orozco also reminded the Library Board about the joint meeting of the
Friends and Library Board. Jane Bennett is the guest speaker. Books will be
presented in memory of leaders in the community.
The weekend of November 3 and 4 is the Barnes and Noble Book Fair. The Teen
Wylie Idol will be on the program.
Rachel Orozco reported that several staff had a "Go To" meeting that was online.
The staff stressed that they wanted a drive-up book drop. A survey indicated that
our citizens want a drive-up book-drop. The architects say that the curve of the
building and the radius and proximity to the front are prohibitive.
Library Board members and Friends are welcome to come to the 2:30 p.m.
meeting on Tuesday, September 11, 2007.
On Tuesday, September 11, 2007, the City budget will be approved. It looks like
the Library will keep all its requests. A copy of the budget was passed out. The
budget and tax rate adoption are numbers 3, 4, and 5 on the agenda.
