Staff has observed at times there are groups that want to crowd around one computer and it is disruptive to others. • Page 2 —Guest Passes: The Board had previously discussed guest passes and Rachel also spoke with staff about them. A very general clause was added regarding these passes. • Page 3 —Wireless Access: This section was added because it was not in the old policy. 4104110, Additional suggestions were made to add language regarding data breach and/or identity being stolen while on any of the library electronic devices. The language was made very general to include all types of electronic devices. It was suggested that liability language be added regarding patron responsibility for damaged or lost electronics that are checked out to them. -- • Page 3 —User Responsibilities: A suggestion was made to add "local" to the sentence regarding abiding by state and federal laws. • Page 5 — Violation of Smith Public Library Computer Use Policy: At the end of the first sentence after Library Director add "or designee". Rachel will make the suggested revisions and present the Policy at the next meeting for approval. Collin County Funding Update: Rachel is meeting with area Directors the 3rd week in January. They are all going to meet and discuss strategy on how to handle the possibility of funding being cut. Mindy Manson, City Manager, suggested the Board initially try to contact the County Commissioners that support library funding rather than the ones that doesn't support the funding. Rachel will contact her colleagues and suggest they all meet with the Commissioners that support library funding and see what type of information they can gain from meeting with them. In the meantime, Rachel has been discussing with her colleagues and staff as to how to charge patrons should the county funding be cut. She also emailed the Director of the Duncanville library because they have a tiered level of charging patrons for library cards like the Board had previously discussed. Rachel will check with Mindy about the possibility of forming an inter-local agreement with cities like Murphy who don't have a library. A suggestion was made to create a survey to assist in determining how large of a population that uses the library isn't residents of Wylie.
