DISCUSSION ITEMS
Review of the Brown House facility fees.
Superintendent Diaz stated that the goal of the evening's meeting was to finalize the
Subcommittee's recommendation regarding the Brown House facility fees, and take it before
the Parks and Recreation Board for their review during the September 14th regular meeting.
Superintendent Diaz reviewed the updated rental pricing comparison with the Subcommittee
Members. The comparison included a Staff recommended fee structure, the Birmingham
Trust's previously used fee schedule, as well as pricing for historical properties rented out in
the City of Carrollton, City of Dallas, and City of Fort Worth. Superintendent Diaz advised the
Subcommittee that Staff previously toured a Farmers Branch facility, and included in the
meeting Agenda Packet, Farmers Branch's detailed rental rate schedule, rental agreement,
general restrictions list, and their adopted reservation policies and procedures.
The Subcommittee requested the following amendments to the final recommendation:
1. Adopt the Staff fee structure as recommended, but increase the deposit fee to $600 when
alcohol is served during rental.
2. Include in the policies, the allowance of outside food provided by the renter, therefore, not
limiting the renter to strictly using an outside catering vendor.
3. Include the Bart Peddicord Community Center in the alcohol policy.
4. Add to the Parks and Recreation Board September 14th Agenda, the removal of this item
from the table, then listing it as an action item.
